NMSN app privacy

Last updated October 5, 2026. The NMSN iOS and Android apps let you browse local scores and watch NMSN broadcasts using YouTube API Services. By using the app, you agree to this policy and the YouTube Terms of Service.

Favorites and app data

No account is required. Favorites, cached listings, and your acceptance of this policy are stored on your device. You can remove favorites in My Teams; clearing app data or removing the app removes these local records. Version 1.0 does not register push subscriptions. In versions supporting optional alerts, enabling them sends your device notification token, selected schools, alert categories, sound choice, and quiet-hours time zone to NMSN. NMSN stores a random installation credential identifier to let that installation update or delete its own preferences. Turning all alerts off removes the subscription from NMSN; uninstalling does not immediately notify NMSN, so inactive subscriptions expire after 180 days and invalid tokens are removed when the delivery provider reports them.

Stories and optional notifications

Stories open original watchnmsn.com pages in a browser within the app. Those pages follow the NMSN website privacy policy and may use its analytics and cookies. Article links include a general app-source tag, not an installation identifier, to measure visits from the app. Article impressions in a list are not article reads.

Optional notifications are routed directly through Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These providers process device tokens, notification content, and delivery diagnostics. Quiet hours suppress alerts rather than queueing a later backlog. Phone permissions, Focus settings, network conditions, and provider delays may affect delivery. No name or account is required to subscribe.

YouTube playback

Opening a broadcast loads a standalone NMSN webpage containing YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embedded player. This page has no NMSN analytics scripts. The app uses a temporary browser session, does not share sign-in cookies, and blocks third-party cookies on Android. YouTube’s player controls and advertising remain in place. Ads in the privacy-enhanced player are non-personalized, and Google states that views in this player are not used to personalize advertising outside the site or app.

YouTube and Google still process information needed for playback, measurement, security, and advertising, such as IP address, approximate location inferred from the connection, device and browser information, identifiers, video interactions, and diagnostics. Privacy-enhanced playback does not mean that no data is collected. This information is handled under the Google Privacy Policy.

If you choose Open in YouTube or follow an external link, that website or app operates under its own privacy settings and policies.

Highlights

YouTube highlights use the same embedded player described above. Native NMSN highlights open watchnmsn.com pages in the app browser and follow the website privacy and cookie policy. Other social highlights open the named provider’s website or app, where its own privacy settings and policies apply. The provider is labeled before you open the clip.

Service operation

Our hosting providers process connection information, including IP addresses and request diagnostics, to deliver content and maintain service security. The app does not request your contacts, precise location, camera, microphone, payment information, or advertising identifier. NMSN does not include a separate behavioral analytics or advertising SDK.

Contact and choices

For privacy questions or requests concerning information held by NMSN, contact info@watchnmsn.com. Google provides its own data controls and retention information in its privacy policy. The Open in YouTube button opens the broadcast outside NMSN. You can stop embedded playback at any time by closing the player.
