How we rank volleyball
Match results, schedule strength and quality wins lead the evaluation. Head-to-head and common opponents separate comparable teams.
Recent form considers the last five matches. Set success is compared with the match format in mind, so best-of-three and best-of-five matches are not treated as identical totals.
Large rally-point margins add no ranking bonus. Completed-season editions are clearly dated and identified as final.
This final edition assesses neutral-court strength at season end, informed by the full season and postseason. East Union’s three wins each over state champions New Albany and Ingomar, plus a win over finalist Kossuth, support the overall lead; Lewisburg’s deeper large-school schedule makes the top comparison close.
Records are published season totals checked October 28, including ties when listed. Repeated schedule entries are not counted as extra wins. This is a final 2026 assessment, not a 2027 preseason forecast.
These are editorial rankings. Broadcast coverage, sponsorships, fan voting and program reputation do not earn ranking credit. The overall list keeps teams from the same class in the same order as their class list.
MHSAA Regions 1–2 in 5A, 6A and 7A; Regions 1–4 in the remaining classifications. Eligibility follows this sport’s alignment, not school location alone.
