CORINTH — North Mississippi Sports Network made its broadcast debut Saturday, carrying all three games of the 35th annual NEMCABB All-Star Games live from the Corinth Sportsplex. The all-day production spanned the 1A–2A, 5A–7A, and 3A–4A classifications and marked the first live coverage of the event in several years.
On the field, the West All-Stars swept the day. West won the 1A–2A opener 11–3, edged the 5A–7A game 6–5, and closed under the lights with a 6–5 win in the 3A–4A nightcap. A brief rain delay between games was the only interruption.
NMSN founder Steven Martinez said the network approached the NEMCABB organization about bringing the event back to a broadcast audience. "I called Buddy Hall, one of the founding members of the NEMCABB games, and asked if I could have the opportunity to come out and do this event," Martinez said. "In the past they had it on a broadcast TV network, and over the last few years they haven't broadcast this game. So I thought it was a good opportunity to get out here and see what we could do."
Martinez said NMSN's longer-term goal is a dedicated network for north Mississippi high school athletics. "The vision over the next couple of years is to create an actual network, like what you think of when you think of the SEC Network, but for north Mississippi," he said. "There's a lot of talented young players coming through these school systems. They work hard, and we want to give them that exposure."
