TUPELO — DeSoto Central had the first opening. Tupelo made sure it did not become the first score.
After a muffed punt handed the Jaguars another possession, the Golden Wave held near its own goal line. Then Drew Dean found Kaiden Lindsey for a touchdown. Fred Adams took the ball away, Dean found Lindsey again, and a game that briefly offered DeSoto Central a chance to strike first was moving firmly in Tupelo’s direction.
The Wave never gave it back. Dean threw four touchdown passes and ran for another, Adams intercepted two passes, and Tupelo closed an unbeaten regular season with a 38–0 win Thursday at Tupelo High School.
Tupelo heads into the postseason 11–0 after building a 35–0 halftime lead. DeSoto Central finished the regular season 7–3, with an early chance to change the game and later chances to break the shutout both turned away.

A stand, then two strikes
The first big break belonged to the visitors. DeSoto Central recovered Tupelo’s muff of a punt and kept the offense on the field, eventually working into a goal-to-go situation. The Wave had to defend a short field before its offense had put a point on the board.
Tupelo answered. The Jaguars’ fourth-down pass fell incomplete, ending the threat and giving Dean and the offense room to get to work.
Kylan Bobo helped move that possession with hard runs, including a carry on which he kept working through contact. Dean then found Lindsey uncovered, and the junior receiver finished the play for the game’s first touchdown.
Adams supplied the next opening. He undercut a DeSoto Central receiver and came away with an interception, putting the ball back in Dean’s hands. The quarterback moved in the pocket, found Lindsey open again and delivered another scoring pass.
Two touchdown catches for No. 1. A 14–0 first-quarter lead for Tupelo. The Jaguars’ early field-position advantage had disappeared.
Tupelo keeps answering
DeSoto Central did produce another takeaway, recovering a Tupelo fumble in the second quarter. But the Jaguars could not turn it into points, and the Wave soon recovered a DeSoto Central fumble of its own.
Tupelo’s next touchdown went through Eli Shannon. Dean got the ball to the No. 4 receiver, and Shannon carried the play to the pylon to stretch the lead to 21–0.

The Golden Wave kept finding different ways to finish. On the next scoring possession, Bobo helped push the offense toward the goal line. Dean then faked the handoff and kept the ball himself, slipping into the end zone. The extra point made it 28–0.
The offense was pulling away. The defense still had work to do.
DeSoto Central threatened again before halftime, only to find Adams waiting at the other end of the pass. His second interception came near the goal line, preserving the shutout and giving Tupelo one more opportunity before the break.
Tyson Hunter broke loose for a long run on the ensuing possession. With the half winding down, Dean connected with Max Williams for another touchdown. That gave Dean four scoring throws to three receivers, plus his own touchdown run, before the teams went to halftime.
Lindsey had supplied the early separation. Shannon, Dean and Williams turned it into a five-touchdown lead.
The zero stays
Seth Anthony gave DeSoto Central a spark with a kickoff return late in the first half, but the Jaguars still went to the break without points. That remained the problem through the second half.
Tupelo’s defense had protected its goal line early, taken the ball away and erased a scoring chance near the goal line. It finished the job after halftime, too. DeSoto Central never broke the shutout.
Mishuan Waldrop and Tupelo’s blockers kept the running game moving in the second half, including a carry that became a sustained push through a cluster of defenders. Hobson Daughdrill supplied the final points with a fourth-quarter field goal, making it 38–0.
The Wave’s regular-season finale began with a mistake and a test near its own goal line. It ended with eleven wins, no losses and another opponent held scoreless — a finish built as much on the defense’s answers as on Dean’s five-touchdown first half.
